Telling the story of 250 years of Jewish life in America — in the city where it all began.
Every year, the journalists, editors, publishers, and storytellers of the American Jewish press gather for four days of sessions, conversations, and community. In 2026, we come to New York City — for a conference unlike any we have held before.
This year's theme reflects the moment: 250 years of Jewish life in America, told by journalists and editors from across the country. From Atlanta to Seattle, from Cleveland to Phoenix, the American Jewish press has documented that story community by community, city by city. We come to New York in 2026 to gather — and tell the American Jewish story that belongs to all of us.
Join us for four days of editorial programming, business sessions, evening events, and the 45th Annual Simon Rockower Awards Gala. Whether you are a longtime AJPA member or attending for the first time, this is the conference for anyone who cares about the American Jewish story.
The 45th Annual Simon Rockower Awards Gala is the capstone evening of the conference, held at the Center for Jewish History. Each year, the Rockower Awards recognize the best journalism in the American Jewish press — and this dinner is how we celebrate it. Open to all; no conference registration required.

The American Jewish Press Association was founded in 1944 as a voluntary not-for-profit professional association for the English-language Jewish press in North America. Its membership spans Jewish media outlets, individual journalists, and affiliated organizations throughout the United States and Canada.
The mission has remained constant over eight decades: to enhance the standing of American Jewish journalism and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and cooperative work among the American Jewish press.
Whether you are an editor, publisher, reporter, freelancer, or student, the conference is built for you. We welcome your participation.
